Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi Zinfandel
Zinfandel and California were made for each other. Even though recent grape DNA research links Zinfandel's origins to Croatia, the vine somehow made its way to California in the 1850s and rooted so deeply that it's long been called a native. This Zinfandel is sourced from the Lodi region, whose winegrowing history dates back to the Gold Rush. It's juicy and mouth-filling, packed with ripe wild brambleberry, black cherry and raspberry character. Aromas and flavors of black tea, spice and heirloom rose mingle with the jumble of dark berries. Zin's affinity to California extends to the region's cuisine; the wine's smooth, supple flavors make a zesty match for barbecued steaks and chicken, a flat iron steak salad, margarita pizza, or hearty pasta.
